“Mărginimea Sibiului” is a micro-region composed of 18 villages with a variety of attractions. Relax with a walk to Gura Râului commune, visit the local museum or one of the local producers.
Taste a local cheese specialty. Visit the village of Rășinari located 10km and designated Best Toursim Village in 2022 by the World Tourism Organization. Follow the thematic route Poiana Soarelui in Săliște or visit the Museum of Icons on Glass in Sibiel.
Păltiniș Resort
Located 19 km away from La Vâltoare Guesthouse, Păltinis Ski Resort is a mountain destination for the whole family.
Păltiniș is the oldest mountain resort on our territory (128 years) called today Romania (1894), located at the highest altitude (1442 m). Regardless of the season, visitors can try wonderful experiences either skiing at the Păltinis or Oncești Arena or hiking in the Cindrel Mountains.

At a distance of 18 km from the guesthouse, Sibiu is flooded with aristocratic elegance. The noble Saxon history emanates from every art-nouveau façade and church in relief with gold. Renowned composers such as Strauss, Brahms and Liszt performed here in the 19th century, and Sibiu has remained at the forefront of Romania’s cultural scene through its opera, theater and film festivals, as well as rock, jazz and more. The first hospital, school, library and pharmacy in the country were established here, and the locals are proud of the entrepreneurial spirit that endures to this day (Lonley Planet).

Ocna Sibiului
Ocna Sibiului is the spa resort located 25 km from the guesthouse.
The attraction of the resort is represented by the 12 functional lakes. Salt water and mud are used in rheumatic, neuromotor and gynecological treatments.

Astra Sibiu Museum
One of the largest open-air museums in Europe, the Astra Museum is located in a delightful landscape, in the “Dumbrava Sibiului” nature reserve, 20 km from the guesthouse.
The open-air museum surprises you at every step, at any moment, by the way nature and culture blend harmoniously in a true village of Romania. The 10 km of alleys will take you through peasant households, craft workshops, wooden churches, sheepfolds, water and windmills, and the original interiors so well preserved will tell you about the simple country life, can teach you about old skills and how you can find new ways to reuse them for the future.
